Nelson, Motueka and Abel Tasman

Nelson is located at the north west top of the South Island and is famous for its sunny climate, golden beaches, easily accessible hiking in Abel Tasman National Park, and vibrant community of artists and craftspeople. Nelson, Abel Tasman and Golden Bay comprise New Zealand's third main beach area and enjoy one of the country's sunniest climates. The region has a rich diversity of experiences from hiking to sheltered kayaking, art tours, marine and birdlife tours, horse-trekking, exploring the vast wilderness of Kahurangi National Park or urban discovery in the small town of Nelson which has excellent seafood restaurants and art galleries, artists, wine and food producers. This is a region you can spend time in and discover at leisure or enjoy more active options such as hiking, biking and kayaking. “Over the hill" in Golden Bay, a relaxed alternative lifestyle awaits with beaches, walks, horse treks, art, birds and Farewell Spit. The Nelson Region is home of many Middle Earth Hobbit & Lord of the Rings filming locations.

Blenheim and the Marlborough Sounds

Marlborough at the north east top of the South Island combines two very environments; the bush-clad Marlborough Sounds and the dry, world-renowned wine growing region surrounding Blenheim. This drier country extends down the magnificent Kaikoura coast to the east and through the more alpine Molesworth Valleys. The Sounds offer excellent kayaking, cruising and hiking, especially along the route followed by the Queen Charlotte Track. Hike from comfortable lodge to lodge while your pack follows you on a water taxi. The Blenheim area has some of New Zealand’s most famous wineries; including Cloudy Bay, Wither Hills, Seresin, Huia, Herzog and Saint Clair.
