Fishing & Golf Collection
New Zealand fly fishing, with its pristine clear waters, is all about spotting and stalking your fish before enticing it with a dry fly or nymph. Experience the famous fisheries of the Rotorua and Tongariro regions. These are destinations with a wide variety of activities for non-fishing companions; everything from thermal spa treatments to hiking and biking and scenic flights. The guides are some of the best in the country and will make a huge difference to your experience. They are patient, informative about the environment, expert in techniques to suit the fishery and very used to working both with beginners and experienced clients.
Day 1 - Turangi, Central Plateau
River Birches lodge is one of the best kept secrets in the central North Island. Nestled directly beside the Tongariro River, it is a perfect base for fly fishing. We recommend making dinner reservations and ringing your guide the night before to discuss your requirements.
Day 2 - Turangi, Central Plateau
River Birches is in the heart of an area that is world renowned for its fly fishing. Your guide will collect you from the lodge for an exciting day exploring the famous Tongariro River. If you have a non-fishing companion travelling with you, we suggest a guided hiking trip over the nearby Tongariro Crossing. There is also a gentle riverside walking and bike trail accessible directly from the lodge.
Day 3 - Turangi, Central Plateau
Enjoy a second day fishing the Turangi region with your guide.
Day 4 - Rotorua, Central Plateau

Koura Lodge offers excellent accommodation right on the edge of the lake. Just five minutes' drive to the city centre and even closer to many of Rotorua’s world famous attractions.
